Carlos Donoso. Natural person, independent writer, based in Cuenca, Ecuador. This site (https://www.carlos-donoso.com) is my personal editorial project. Contact: autor@carlos-donoso.com.

2 · What I collect

If you subscribe to the newsletter, I store:

Your email.
Your name (optional, only if you provide it).
Your phone (optional, only if you provide it).
IP address and user-agent at the moment of subscription (security and anti-abuse).
Registration source (Instagram, TikTok, organic search, ARC program, etc.).
Timestamp of your explicit consent.

If you join the ARC program I additionally store:

Country and city.
Platform(s) on which you intend to leave a review.
Previous review experience.
Genres you read.
Estimated review delivery date.
Optional comments to the author.
Acceptance of terms and privacy (independent timestamps).
Status of your ARC delivery (pending, confirmed, sent, reviewed).

3 · What I use it for

To send you the short story, the wallpapers, and the ARC PDF you requested.
To send you editorial communications about the Iron and Void Saga and editorial news.
To send you the weekly bulletin only if you opted in.
To comply with my legal obligations (GDPR, LFPDPPP, LGPD, Ecuadorian Organic Law on Protection of Personal Data).

I do not sell your data. I do not share it. I do not use it for anything else.

4 · Where it is stored

In the MySQL database of my hosting (carlos-donoso.com). Restricted access by user and password, encrypted connection, daily backups.

5 · How long

Newsletter data: while you remain subscribed. ARC data: while the campaign is open plus 24 months for review tracking and statistics. After that, anonymized or deleted.

6 · Your rights

You can, at any time:

Request a copy of your data.
Request rectification of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
Object to processing or restrict it.
Withdraw your consent (one click in any of my emails).
File a complaint with the data protection authority of your country.

7 · Cookies

The site uses functional cookies: your chosen language (author_lang on the author site), the dismissed-state of the language notice on the novel pages (hv_lang_hint on /hierro-y-vacio/, moi_lang_hint on /memory-of-iron/), and form CSRF tokens. For audience analytics I use two tools: Plausible (cookieless, EU-hosted) and Google Analytics 4, which sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) with IP anonymization to measure visits in aggregate. You can block these cookies in your browser and the site will keep working.

8 · ARC watermark

The ARC PDF you receive contains your email as a visible and embedded watermark for traceability. This watermark is part of the security of the program and is processed under legitimate interest (preventing leaks of pre-release manuscripts).

9 · Changes

I may update this policy. When I do, I will change the "Last updated" date above. Substantial changes are notified by email to active subscribers.
